Bleached rayon blazer from Comme des Garçons Homme Plus, Autumn/Winter 1993. The black rayon has been bleached at the bottom to create a beautiful, contrasting yellow shade. Take not that the black colour has a faded tint. It is oversized and comfortable, perfectly suited to wear in every situation. The fabric basically feels like a pajama. Note that it is particularly oversized. It is in great condition, but it has been used in the past.
For the first time, the theme was set out as a phrase. The title was "Artist in his Studio." Using art as a pretext for the dyeing technique, the dyed material was then decolourized using chemicals and a delicate contrast was given by the time difference of soaking in the chemicals. It was a display of the technology of Comme des Garçons and of the artistic talent of Rei Kawakubo. Robert Rauschenberg of Neo-Dada, also the founder of combine painting which involves joining together abstract images with realistic objects, and Jim Haynes, an art writer with in-depth expertise, were models amongst others.
