Bleached wool vest from Comme des Garçons Homme Plus, Autumn/Winter 1993-1994. The brown wool has been bleached at the bottom to create a beautiful, harmonized green shade. It has the fit of a formal vest, but its unusual design makes it perfectly suited to wear casually. It is in great condition.
For the first time, the theme was set out as a phrase. The title was "Artist in his Studio." Using art as a pretext for the dyeing technique, the dyed material was then decolourized using chemicals and a delicate contrast was given by the time difference of soaking in the chemicals. It was a display of the technology of Comme des Garçons and of the artistic talent of Rei Kawakubo. Robert Rauschenberg of Neo-Dada, also the founder of combine painting which involves joining together abstract images with realistic objects, and Jim Haynes, an art writer with in-depth expertise, were models amongst others.
