Reversible quilted argyle vest, from Comme des Garçons Homme Plus, Autumn/Winter 1996. Thick vest perfect for the winter season. Because of the zip, it looks more casual than most vests. It adds a beautiful touch when layered under a jacket. There are a few stains, but it still looks amazing.

The main goal of the collection was to play with traditions, rearranging classics. Rei Kawakubo reconstructed Fair Isle sweaters, tweed jackets and trenches. Everything from gray argyle prints on shirt-fronts to pin-stripe shirts with plain sleeves to toggle duffel coats to athletic jackets to hooded sweatshirts to striped jeans were reworked with clever colors and wit.

By including Rei's own variations of the Union Jack together with a multitude of slender suits, the streetstyle emanating from this Homme Plus collection was reminiscent of the mods and punks. To support this further, both Pete Townshend of The Who, pioneers of the mods music scene, and Jimmy Pursey of Sham 69, active in the early days of punk rock, were asked to model for the show by Rei.
